#KeKoreaKeKita?

Rasanya mesti korang tahu kenapa aku baca buku tu. Yes. I admit it! Aku minat Korea. Hehehe.. So,buku tu citer pasal life experience as a muslim student di Korea! KOREA SELATAN to be exact. Macam mana susahnya nak cari makanan halal, penulis tu banyak kali dah kena tanya kenapa dia berhijab etc. Dah. Dah. Aku nak citer pasal gambar ni pula.

Ni gambar yang ditangkap di UIA Gombak. Actually aku tengah on the way nak ke masjid then ke group discussion Bahasa Arab preparation untuk exam Bahasa Arab. Ternampak kawan aku, Soriz yang tengah duduk di salah satu meja kat depan kedai makan The Grill kat library. So,dia nampak macam lonely. Kesian sangat. Aku pergilah singgah. Hahaha.. Padahal nak rehat jap. Penat jalan dari mahallah.(hostel) Sembang lah kami berdua. Tanya khabar. Cakap pasal exam etc. Then tetiba aku terperasan ada orang tengah cakap Bahasa Korea. Aku pusing lah. Sekali ternampak beberapa orang Korea kat situ yang duduk berdekatan. Mula-mula aku ingatkan international students from China. So,macam tak hairan mana lah, lagipun sebab aku ada kawan-kawan yang from China juga. Bila tahu je yang diaorang tu from Korea, mulalah aku jadi jakun. Yerlah. Susah kot nak jumpa.

Aku cakap kat Soriz yang aku nak gi tegur diaorang. Tapi macam malu. Tapi macam nak. Boleh jadi ni once in a lifetime. Then diaorang dah mula bangun nak beredar. Aku pun spontan je lah..

''Excuse me, Assalamualaikum.'' sapa aku.

Diaorang pusing ke belakang.

''Are you guys the exchange students from Korea?''

''Yes.'' jawab mereka

''Annyeonghaseyo. Jeoneun Eizat-imnida. Pangawoyo!''

aku berseloroh mengeluarkan vocab Korea aku hasil tontonan drama and Runningman kot.. (suatu ketika dahulu :p)

Mereka pun mula senyum and ketawa sebab terkejut nampak pemuda melayu depan mereka ni boleh cakap Korea. *sikit-sikit je*

Disebabkan nervous,(aceceh..) disebabkan nampak macam awkward and aku macam takde modal nak cakap apa, aku pun cakap yang aku suka K-Drama and K-Pop. (taklah die-hard fan pun) muzik je catchy. Siap bagi list kat diaorang. Super Junior lah konon, EXO etc. Yerlah. First time jumpa kot.

Selain tu, aku pun tanya lah apa pendapat diaorang tentang Malaysia. Diaorang cakap,

''Malaysian people are very nice!''

''Kuala Lumpur's tower is beautiful!''

''Ney. Kamsahamnida!'' :D

Sekali lagi diaorang ketawa and senyum dengar aku berKorea.

Diaorang cakap yang makanan Korea kat Malaysia ni mahal bebenar. (Yerlah.. Import kot.) Aku pun sebutlah makanan Korea yang aku tahu.

''Kimbap! Black noodle!!''

Diaorang garu kepala. Then ada seorang daripada mereka cakap.

''Jajangmyeon..''

Lulz. Tak hafal aku nama semua tu.

Aku pun bagitahu diaorang yang aku ni so-called die-hard fan Samsung phone. Muka diaorang time tu, macam errr...

''Korean people don't like Samsung. Because they sell to the Korean so expensive. But outside Korea, it's cheaper. I love iPhone!''  sambil menunjuk iPhone 6 dia kat tangan. Ke iPhone 6s ke apa entah. Lol. Aku ingatkan majoriti rakyat Korea pakai Samsung. Dalam citer drama Korea, mostly pakai Samsung kot. Orang gaji pun pakai! Hahaha.. :p

Aku tanya lagi, kali ni mengenai persepsi mereka di Korea tentang Islam pula. Diaorang cakap, diaorang tak tahu mana pasal agama ni. And kat media diaorang sendiri pun, kalau ada info pasal Islam, mesti yang tak baik. IS/ISIS etc. Diaorang bagitahu aku, pasal tujuan diaorang datang buat exchange program kat UIA.

''We want to know about Islam, and tell them back there that Islam is Islam and IS is IS.'' (Islam is not equal to IS/ISIS)

Aku terharu.

''So, you guys are the minority muslims over there?'' soal aku kepada mereka.

Aku cuba meneka. Sebab yang lelakinya memakai jubah and yang perempuannya bertudung.

''No.No.. We are not Muslims. But we love to learn about Islam and the culture here..''

Ada salah seorang daripada mereka cakap,

''I know some Arabic words. Assalamualaikum, Kaifa haluka etc.''

Kali ni aku pula tersenyum sebab dengar diaorang cakap Bahasa Arab. Lol. Aku pun berkata,

''I think if I'm not mistaken, Kaifa haluka in Korean is ''Kenchana. Kenchanayo? Is it?''

''Yes! Yes!'' puji dia.

Hahaha..
Nasib baik teka betul. Sesi temu ramah aku belum habis actually. Banyak lagi nak tanya diaorang. Tapi, masing-masing tengah in hurry. So,ni lah gambar kitaorang. By the way, mereka ni merupakan student exchange dari Sun Moon University.

Serata dunia. Sebab tu aku suka KLM(Kulliyah of Languages & Management). Ada exchange program di peringkat degree. Annyeong! ^_^

*dengan aku.kita informal je lah. Kenchana?

KLM & UIA Pagoh?

Sometimes,it's a little bit hard for us to answer when people ask where is our kulliyah. We have a kulliyah. But,our kulliyah doesn't have its own building. Yup. You heard it right. Our kulliyah is located at Kulliyah of Information & Communication Technology at IIUM Gombak. So,when we say our kulliyah is at KICT,people will think that we are one of those ICT students. 😂

But no. Our kulliyah is Kulliyah of Languages & Management(KLM) that consists of:
  • English-Communication students (ENCOM)
  • Arabic-Communication students (ARCOM)
  • Malay-Communication students (MLCOM)
  • Tourism students. (TPHM)

This is our home. Will surely miss it and the whole campus because changing is never easy. To let go of the things that you are used to. Moving out is never easy. To let go of the people that you are close to. And so is saying goodbye.

The fact that we will be moving to a new campus,(IIUM Pagoh/UIA Pagoh) has its own bittersweetness. The best part is,we own the place. Hahaha.. Well, not really. We will have new neighbours from other education institutions; Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia,Universiti Teknologi Malaysia & Politeknik Pagoh. The saddest part is that we have to make new friends. Why is it sad? Because making new friends means to find replacements. Physically. Because they are like so far from Pagoh. But,the ones that care sincerely, will stay forever deep in our hearts. 😊

*fyi,Pagoh is in Johor

Admit it. Deep inside our hearts,we do not want to move there. A new journey might sound scary at first because of the uncertainty. But,I must say, after watching this video, I feel excited! Kudos to Sime Darby! They have done a great job. The new facilities, the landscape, the design of the buildings and the city plan etc. I mean,we get to use everything for the very first time! And not to forget that we will get a LOT of new friends from other campuses. Besides, the campus is so amazingly beautiful! Don't you agree? :)

Happy (belated) Teacher's Day!

Long ago when I first enrolled to the university,I was so mad when people know about what course I was taking. I told them that I was an English for International Communication student. And back then they would ask,

"So,you're going to be teaching at school after you graduate,is it?"

I was mad, because I felt that they look down on me. They did not acknowledge what I was capable of other than teaching. And I was mad because they did stereotyping towards language students saying that our job prospect after graduating was only teaching at school or at university.

But now,I do not feel mad at all. I feel like teaching is something challenging. Watching those hardworking teachers and lecturers of mine struggling to ensure that we understand and to make sure we become knowledgeable makes me appreciate them a lot. Some people think that teaching is easy. But,it is not. The job is not just telling people what is this and what is that. The job is to make sure that people will eventually become human. It takes patience, courage and desire to do what those wonderful people did back in school. It takes a lot of sacrifices including our time.

But,my teachers at school did not encourage me and my friends to become a teacher eventhough it's a noble thing to do. They asked us to be something else. To go out and discover things that we can do.

Ministers, doctors, engineers, policemen, pilots, scientists and others have one thing in common.
They were taught by great teachers!

P/S: If I was destined to become a teacher one day,I would probably be teaching English and Arabic. And my students would call me Sir Ustaz. Dua titles kot! 😂✌🏻️

#BilaAkuTengokBola

Aku: Berapa markah?

Rahimi: 🙄 ?

Aku: Markah.. Berapa dah sekarang?

Rahimi: Score. Orang panggil tu score. 😅

Aku: A'ah lah. Markah tu,untuk exam.. 😂

Hashtag LMAO
Hashtag LOL

-_-

I could not believe I said that. Well, you can't blame me for not knowing that because I'm Professor X. Yeah you heard me. Wait! Sabit apa doh? Sabit lah.. Professor X kan duduk atas kerusi roda and those who don't know how to play football @ soccer, the Malay call them as 'Kaki Bangku'. YES. I admit it,people. I don't play 'bola sepak'. Speaking of 'sepak-menyepak,'when I was a kid,I was misbehave. You know, just me being naughty. Tiap kali orang ajak main bola sepak,I just love catching the ball in the middle of the field where the midfield-ers and the strikers would be at. Why? Because I can kick their legs and tell them that it was for the sake of catching the ball. They wont get angry because it's a game and we hate players that are so emo, don't we? Back then, the kids will go like,

''Aku bagitahu abang aku yang kau sepak!''

''Kenapa kau pijak kasut aku?? Kan dah kotor.. Baru je ayah aku beli.''

''Siap kau! Aku report kat mak kau nanti!''

Admit it. We all have seen that drama. Siapa kata lelaki tak pandai ber-drama? Lol
And those kind of people usually get less invitation by others to play game with.

Another thing is that,I really don't have a football @ soccer team to support. Well,I have. But,I'm not a die-hard fan to begin with. I'm not a real supporter. If I could take you back to 2002 where David Beckham was famous than his son,Brooklyn, you would see little me carrying a school bag that has David Beckham's face on it. #TeamEngland #TeamBeckham

Why? Because he was famous. So,he became my so-called favourite player.
For now, when people ask me who is my favourite player,I would say Christiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. My favourite team would be which team are they play for. Hashtag Fake Supporter  XD

But,I really admire what Ronaldo did across the world. The story of him doing charity, the story of him not getting a tattoo because he's a frequent blood donor and etc.

I have a classmate which is awesome. She's a die hard fan of football @ soccer and she loves food that much, you can see Hashtage Foodporn or Hashtag iMakan on her Instagram. Lol, Lina Farhana. :D

Does video games counted as sports?
Which game that I play? That's another story.

.....Angry Birds and Unblock Me(where you need to move blocks. It's NOT a secret software (that no one knows),that can unblock yourself to be on the friend list of your crush.

OK. I.TALKED.TOO.MUCH.

Speak. Don't whisper!

As I turned into a 2nd year student in IIUM,it was the time for me to take the co-curricular subject after completing Study Circle & Tilawah. I decided to go with Presentation Skills & Critical Thinking.

Eventhough I talk a lot, that doesn't make me a good speaker. I had problems when it comes to delivering ideas to people. In this class,we learn about Matter,Method & Manner. We call them as The Trinity of Presentation Skills.

To have a great content of speech.
To have suitable visual aids and way of presenting.
To treat the audiences with respect.

That day,we learned the importance of ensuring the message to be delivered successfully to the audiences by playing Charade. You can see how bad I am at it! 😂

P/S: I really miss this havoc class that had so many students from different background, countries etc! The lecturer was a Palestinian woman. And to me,the way she spoke was like an American. She was really an open-minded person and she was willing to share all tips that she knows on how to become a great speaker. Hopefully she still remember this 'budak yang selalu bising dalam kelas!' 😆

L.P.S: Last Paper Syndrome

Some people say that having a gap in final exam between one paper to another is a bless.
But for me,it's some sort of torture. I have 10 days gap between the last paper that I have
taken and the last upcoming paper that I'll be taking.

Why I consider it as a torture?
It makes me going places!

Hutan Lipur Chamang ✅
Mini Cameron Highlands ✅
Watching X-Men Apocalypse ✅
Watching Angry Birds The Movie ✅

I really need a study group A.S.A.P 😂

P/S: All the best in final, everyone!

#MyThing

I knew at the right moment that language is my thing when it was obvious back in school that I only consulted with my teachers that taught me English,Arabic & Malay.
Like seriously.Lol.

Alhamdulillah. Learning languages is never been hard for me. But it has never been that easy too.
I fell in love with English first since I watched so many English movies when I was a kid. Only when I was in secondary school I started to love my own mother-tongue. Malay. I learned literature. I wrote poems. Malay poems. And it was great. To be in that mood of loving literature. My friends said what I wrote was so 'Jiwang'. I told them that I was just being romantic.

French was another thing. Well, just the basic. Mandarin is also another thing. My chinese friend at Matriculation Malacca taught me. I decided to learn some Mandarin phrases to speak with those chinese students at my matriculation. To greet them and to befriend with them.

Alhamdulillah ala kulli hal.
I can learn more languages at here. At this lovely university. As a student of Kulliyah of Languages & Management,I cannot miss the chance that this university has offered. Making friends with people from around the globe. Seeking new knowledge & experience.

This photo was taken right after the Explorace contest that was held by the Students' Representation Council of International Affairs (Nasra and Zayn) ended. But this one was a little bit different. At every check-point,we must speak in different languages;Mandarin,Arabic,Malay & French. And my teammates were looking at me at the whole checkpoints. Lol. 😂

It was a great experience for us. Thanks SRC for conducting this program! ✌🏻️

P/S: Would I recommend my university to others? Definitely! In fact,I recommend it to the whole world! :)
